The Clarke County Mentor Program has been providing positive role models, advocates and advisors for students in the Clarke County School District since 1990.  The partnership between the school district and the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce began with 30 mentors in seven schools.  Today, the program boasts hundreds of mentors in every public school in Clarke County.  Research conducted by the Mentor Program shows that mentors have a positive influence on students' academic and social performance.
