CCHS Counseling Department

  • C

Our department provides a comprehensive and developmental school counseling program for students in grades 9-12 in order to support students' academic achievement and personal growth. Generally, students are assigned to a counselor alphabetically by their last name. However, during 9th grade, students will work with a 9th-grade counselor.  We are fortunate to have an additional counselor who works with students served by 504 and Hospital Homebound and coordinates dual enrollment and special projects. We also have a College Adviser from the Georgia College Advising Corps who works primarily with 11th- and 12th-grade students.

    Mission & Vision

In partnership with individuals, families, and the Athens community, the mission of the Clarke Central High School Counseling Department is to provide an equitable, data-driven, comprehensive school counseling program that promotes academic, post-secondary, and personal/social development by advocating for all students, consistently monitoring their progress, fostering growth, and inspiring lifelong learning.

The vision of the Clarke Central High School Counseling Program is for students to graduate as lifelong learners who are ready and able to meet the challenges of a global workforce as well-rounded, culturally sensitive, engaged, and productive members of their community.

    What We Do

We meet with students to address their academic needs, their personal and social issues, and their post-secondary options, including assistance with college and/or career planning.

Students are seen on both a walk-in and appointment basis. If the student's counselor is not immediately available, the student will be asked to make an appointment. Students in crisis will be seen immediately.

Parents and outside agencies are encouraged to call the counseling secretary to set an appointment to meet with a counselor.

The graduation coach serves students at risk of dropping out of school or not completing their high school education on time. The graduation coach and the counselors work closely together to identify, support, and encourage students to complete high school.

Our college adviser provides support and programs related to college applications, financial aid, and college test registration.

We look forward to serving student needs!
