• It is always best to give medication at home whenever possible. Sometimes, a medication may need to be given to the student at school. The School Nurse Division has a Medication Administration Policy to ensure that medication is given safely at school. You must bring the proper forms filled out with parent and doctor signatures in order for a medicine to be given to your child at school. The medication must be in a bottle that is properly labeled with:

    • Student's name
    • Prescribing physician
    • Correct dosage
    • Pharmacy
    • Expiration date

Students may not transport controlled substances to and from school. Parents must bring those medications to and from school.

Emergency medications such as inhalers may be carried by a student according to Georgia law. A form giving permission to self-administer is required and will be kept in the office. We also ask that you complete an Asthma Care Plan.
