• What is Title I?

Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) provides financial assistance to state and local educational agencies to meet the needs of students in schools with higher free and reduced lunch counts. The goal of Title I is to provide instructional services and activities which support students in meeting the state's challenging performance standards.

What does Title I do for our children?
Title I provides extra funding for our schools to provide more resources as we educate our children.

    Title I programs can offer:

    • Smaller classes or special instructional spaces
    • Additional teachers and paraprofessionals
    • Opportunities for professional development
    • A variety of supplementary methods
    • Individualized programs for students
    • Additional teaching materials that supplement regular instruction of all kinds
    • Parent Involvement in children's education

    Parent and Family Engagement
At WDV, the participation of parents plays an integral role in assisting their child's learning. Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education. Parents are full partners in their child's education and are included, when appropriate, in decision-making as well as being a part of the Advisory Committees to assist in the education of their child. Policies, that are jointly developed with parents, guide what we do in parental involvement.  Each Title I school jointly develops a Family-School Compact that outlines how parents, teachers, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement.
