Welcome to ACCA
Welcome to the Athens Community Career Academy,
Our Career Academy, located on the historic H.T. Edwards Campus, was founded in 2011 and offers a unique and innovative environment for high school students in the Clarke County School District. Through an established partnership with Athens Technical College, our program is able to offer career focused, college- level courses to your students at no cost to you or your family . Our building boasts state-of-the-art electronic classrooms, a student-managed cafe, and a food court for students to study, work on group projects, as well as socialize. Our programs offerings include engineering, nursing, criminal justice, early childhood education, accounting, cosmetology, and much more!
Our program’s mission is very simple: To provide expansive opportunities for students to achieve educational and career goals while meeting local and regional workforce needs. We partner with local and regional business to ensure your students are learning in a rigorous environment and gaining the skills they need to be college and career ready. In addition, local businesses are involved in curriculum development based on actual workforce needs and provide numerous internship and apprenticeship opportunities outside of the classroom; some even pay!
We have had several accomplishments since our inception, including being named the Lt. Governor’s College & Career Academy of the Year in 2014. In addition, between 2015-2016, we saved families over $1,000,000 in tuition dollars and awarded over 40 Technica Certificates of Credit (TCC). We’ve also had many successes with the retention of our students ranging from our 2016-2017 student of the year graduating high school with 49 college credits, to our numerous other students who have been hired full-time at local companies after graduation because of their internship experience while in our program.
Your Athens Community Career Academy is working to transform the Athens community into a career-focused learning environment for students in grades 10-12. We hope you will consider making the Athens Community Career Academy the site of your educational experience.
We look forward to partnering with you and your family this year and welcome your feedback throughout your enrollment in our programs.
Best wishes for the coming school year.
