Certification Information

  • Due to recent Georgia legislation, Professional Learning Units (PLUs) are not required for certificate renewal of clear renewable certificates from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2015.

Therefore, Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GAPSC) has modified the Standard Renewal Requirement of 10 Professional Learning Units (PLUs) during this period. Certificates with an expiration date of June 30 of 2011 to 2015 will not require professional learning units to renew a Georgia clear renewable educator certificate.

Though, the Certification Renewal Process will remain in place. A certification renewal packet will be emailed directly to the employee by January in the year of the renewal. For example, if your certification expires on 6/30/2011, you will receive a renewal packet via email by January 2011. Those documents would be returned to Human Resources at the Board Office in order to renew the certification. The validity period of certificates issued between July 1, 2011, and June 20, 2015, will be the standard period of five years.
