The LSGT is co-led by the Principal and an elected parent or community member. The LSGT holds nine (9) open meetings throughout the year, and encourages public participation. Please contact a Co-Chair to find out about information about the LSGT, future meetings, or how you can get more involved.
Playworks Coach LSGT Grant
In 2018, the Clarke County School District set aside grant funds to distribute to LSGTs to create innovative programs that build the capacity of schools and communities to support the achievement, success, and well-being of children in alignment of one or more of the District's focus areas of literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development.
Grant Budget: $24,795
Chase Street LSGT will be focusing on social-emotional development with their innovation. They have proposed the use of the Playworks Coach Program to address the gaps in social emotional learning. The program focuses on increasing conflict resolution skills and youth leadership development. Key components of the program include a high functioning recess, a junior coach leadership program, class game time, and co-ed after school sports leagues. Playworks supplies the school with an Americorps staff member. This worker will oversee the games and recess activities. The co-ed sports league builds relationships, community, and conflict resolution skills while allowing students to get the appropriate amount of physical activity at the same time.
