BHL Welcomed authors Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed on March 16, 2023. Their book, When Stars Are Scattered, was awarded the Georgia Children's Book Award in 2021-2022. This book tells Omar's childhood story of life in a refugee camp without his mother and father. Omar was the primary caretaker of his nonverbal brother, Hassan, only two years younger than himself. Omar recently started a non-profit called Refugee Strong that supports students in refugee camps to achieve their educational dreams. You can learn more by viewing his website. BHL gave away 100 free copies of their book to students. All copies were signed by both authors.
