FEBRUARY 2019 BETTER EVERY DAY RECIPIENTS

At the February 2019 Board of Education meeting, we honored the Gaines Elementary 2nd Grade Team and Ms. Pam Tate, Information Support Specialist with the Better Every Day Award.   All of these individuals have shown a true commitment to our district's mission of equity for all and their work has shown great results for our students.

Pam Tate is an advocate for the children of Clarke County. Students are always at the center of her work, whether that be with assessments or supporting the Gifted or ESOL programs. This perspective is exemplified in her work around the Advanced Placement assessment program. The AP Testing Program is complicated and diverse with many moving parts. Pam ensures that the process of signing up for and taking AP tests is seamless for students. She ensures that students and families are aware of their rights to equitable and no-cost access to these opportunities, which, in turn, can lead to college credit. Recently, CCSD was named to the College Board AP District Honor Roll for diverse and open participation in AP tests. Many CCSD educators deserve credit for this distinction from the College Board, but as the point person for the coordination of AP exams, Pam deserves the most credit.

The Gaines Elementary 2nd Grade Team, which consists of Cynthia Paulson, Shelby Wilcher, Andrea Mooney, Brittany Cagle, Kenneth Hobbs and Lori Bigham, has worked together to lead their students to higher than expected growth on their winter MAP assessments.

These dedicated members of the CCSD community are what makes us Better Every Day!

At the October 11, 2018 Board of Education meeting the Better Every Day Award for members of the CCSD community was announced.   The award will be given monthly to at least one district employee who embodies our mission of ensuring equity and excellence through the implementation of rigorous standards in a safe and supportive environment for every child.
