During its Thursday, July 14 meeting, the Clarke County Board of Education approved the hire of Dr. Cyndee Perdue Moore as the new Executive Director of Public Relations and Communications for the Clarke County School District.
A highly-respected local leader with a strong background in public relations and communications, community engagement, higher education leadership, and K-12 classroom teaching experience, Dr. Moore will lead a five-person communications team that seeks to provide relevant, timely, transparent, and trustworthy information to CCSD families and the Athens-Clarke County community and aims to highlight student and staff achievements throughout the district. The Communications Department will now operate under the Office of the Superintendent and will also include language translation and interpretation services.

Other leadership hires approved by the board at the July 14 meeting included:
- Dr. Summer Smith, associate principal, Clarke Central High School. Dr. Smith is a 20-year CCSD veteran and has been at Clarke Central since August 2010, when she started at the school as a mathematics teacher. She had been serving as an assistant principal at the school since July 2019.
- Tameka Henson, assistant principal, Clarke Central High School. Ms. Henson has been a mathematics teacher with CCSD for the last seven years and spent the 2021-22 school year teaching math for the Clarke Virtual Academy.
- Damian Powell, assistant principal, Cedar Shoals High School. A 15-year veteran in education administration, Mr. Powell was most recently assistant principal at Gainesville High School, where he had been since 2019.
- Dr. Kala Jordan, assistant principal, Winterville Elementary. Dr. Jordan has worked as a teacher and instructional coach with CCSD since July 2008 and has also served as an adjunct professor of early childhood education at Athens Technical College since August 2020. Prior to her time with CCSD, she taught for a year in the DeKalb County School District.
