CCSD Superintendent Dr. Robbie Hooker Announces Series of Town Hall Meetings

Town Hall ScheduleClarke County School District Superintendent Dr. Robbie Hooker today announced a series of upcoming town hall meetings throughout the Athens-Clarke County community, where he will share his vision for CCSD, answer questions, and listen to concerns from community members.

This initial slate of town hall meetings will begin Nov. 1 at Clarke Central High School and will conclude Dec. 5 at Pinewood Estates. All meetings will be from 6-7 p.m. and will be open to the public.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 1, Clarke Central High School Auditorium, 350 South Milledge Ave., Athens

  • Monday, Nov. 7, Rocksprings Community Center, 285 Rocksprings Ct., Athens
  • Monday, Nov. 14, Nellie B. Community Center, 200 Zetella Ln., Athens

  • Thursday, Nov. 17, Cedar Shoals High School Auditorium, 1300 Cedar Shoals Dr., Athens

  • Wednesday, Nov. 30, New Grove Baptist Church, 1228 Moores Grove Rd., Winterville

  • Monday, Dec. 5, Pinewood Estates Library and Community Center, 1465 US-29, Lot 14, Athens.

Dr. Hooker began work as CCSD Superintendent on Oct. 10 after being officially appointed by the Clarke County Board of Education on Sept. 1. 

A veteran educator and former CCSD administrator, Dr. Hooker began his career in education as a classroom teacher, a role that brought him to W.R. Coile Middle School, where he was named Teacher of the Year for 1995-96. From there, he went to Westside Middle School in Barrow County, where he served as assistant principal from 1997-2003, before returning to CCSD as principal of Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School from 2003-2008. In 2008, Dr. Hooker was named principal of Clarke Central High School, a position he held until 2016. In that role, he received many honors, which included being named Georgia High School Principal of the Year in 2013 by the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals. 

Dr. Hooker later served as Assistant Superintendent for High Schools in Henry County from 2016-2019 before assuming the role of Superintendent of Social Circle City Schools, a position he held until rejoining CCSD as Superintendent.
