Updated July 9, 2023

Families of students in the Clarke County School District may be eligible to receive free or discounted internet service under the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), provided by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The ACP provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward broadband service for eligible households. The benefit also provides up to a $100 per household discount toward a one-time purchase of a computer, laptop, or tablet if the household contributes more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase through a participating broadband provider.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

All households with a child who was approved to receive free or reduced-price school meals under the National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program within the last 12 months, including children who attend schools participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), are eligible for ACP benefits.

CCSD is a CEP district; therefore, all families with children enrolled for the 2023-24 school year are eligible

Households are also independently eligible if:

  • their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level; OR
  • a member of the household participates in certain other Federal benefit programs — including, among others, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Medicaid, and Federal Public Housing Assistance.

HOW TO APPLY:

1. Contact your child’s school, and ask to be provided with a proof-of-enrollment letter that includes ALL of the following:

  • Name of the enrolled student
  • Relevant school year (2023-24)
  • School name
  • School address
  • School phone number.

2. Go to AffordableConnectivity.gov to submit an application or print out a mail-in application. When completing the application:

  • Select, “Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch or Breakfast Program, or enrollment in a USDA Community Eligibility Provision School in the current school year.”
  • Below that, select, “Select a USDA Community Eligibility Provision School.”
    • In the dropdown menu, select the state (GA), school district (Clarke County), and school.

3. Once your application is approved, contact your preferred participating internet provider to select a plan and have the discount applied to your bill.
