ACCA Invites Athens-area Businesses, Community Members to Participate in ‘Project Yellow Jacket’ Mock Interview Event

ACCA mock interview event flyerThe mission of the Athens Community Career Academy (ACCA) is to prepare Clarke County School District students with the skills necessary to meet local and regional workforce needs and help them achieve their post-secondary goals. In addition to academic and technical skills, ACCA is dedicated to ensuring that students have the employability and social skills needed to be successful after high school.

To that end, ACCA is reaching out to Athens-area businesses and community members that have engaged with the academy and the district’s Work-Based Learning Program in the past for volunteers to support the academy’s annual mock interview event on Wednesday, March 29. As part of this year’s event, titled “Project Yellow Jacket” in honor of ACCA's historic mascot, volunteers will conduct 5- to 10-minute mock interviews using provided questions and will use a scoring rubric to give feedback to each student. The event will be a friendly and fun competition with awards being earned by classes and individual students based on the scoring of the interviews.

The event will be held at ACCA, 440-1 Dearing Extension, Athens, and there will be a morning session from 10:10 a.m. to noon and an afternoon session from 12:45-2:05 p.m. Volunteers are invited to sign up for one or both sessions using this form

If you have questions or are interested in sponsoring the event by making a donation, please contact Wesley Mellina, Chief Executive Officer of ACCA, at mellinaw@clarke.k12.ga.us. Donations will be used for incentives/awards for students as well as to feed volunteers for both sessions. Sponsors will be highlighted on ACCA and CCSD social media and featured in marketing materials for the events.

ACCA, located on the Clarke County School District’s historic H.T. Edwards Campus, was founded in 2011 and offers a unique and innovative environment for CCSD high school students grades 10-12 by providing career-focused, college-level courses at no cost to students through an established partnership with Athens Technical College as well as several high school pathways.
