This week, Governor Brian Kemp released a set of guidelines to help schools develop reopening plans to ensure a safe and successful 2020-21 school year. The document provides considerations, recommendations, and best practices to determine different instructional models and responses the district can adopt for the continued success and safety of students and staff.

While providing guidance, the governor’s office and the State Department of Education give local school districts the authority and flexibility to make decisions to meet the needs of their community. In order to assess the unique needs of our community, a Reopening Task Force has been established to identify COVID related challenges and potential solutions. The task force is comprised of representatives from each school level and various district departments, such as transportation and operations. Our goal is to develop instructional support plans for various scenarios we might encounter as a result of the pandemic.

To help the task force in its planning, we are soliciting feedback from parents/guardians. Please click here to complete the survey. The survey closes June 12, 2020.

We recognize parents/guardians want specific information from the school district to help plan for the needs of their families. Please know that we are working diligently to develop a comprehensive plan that can be applied to different scenarios. We will keep parents, and community members updated as more details become finalized. Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to work through these unprecedented events.
