The Role of the Local Building Committee

The work of the LBC is to assess the needs of the school community and to give consideration to the educational vision. We want the building project to support those two items, along with the construction team’s plan to improve the overall condition of the facility. The goal is to build consensus for a facility concept plan that meets these needs within the allocated budget. The expectation for committee work is likely four or five planning sessions over a period of two or three months.

During the course of this work, input will also be received from various district departments, the Georgia Department of Education, Athens-Clarke County building department, the Superintendent, and, in some cases, the Board of Education Property Committee.
