Interim Superintendent Shares COVID-19 Diagnosis

Dr. Xernona Thomas, the interim superintendent, decided to publicly share she tested positive for COVID-19 and was hospitalized for her symptoms. Dr. Thomas is currently resting comfortably at home.

“I am humbled and grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers from this community,” states Dr. Thomas. “We have an enormous responsibility to identify the safest manner to return staff and students to our buildings. My own experience has helped the team recognize the challenges that accompany the pandemic.”

Dr. Thomas reminds the community to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and thoroughly wash their hands (watch Barrow Elementary students demonstrate the proper technique). “I will be excited when I can see our students and staff in person,” she adds.
