Culinary Arts Pathway (High School Level)

The Culinary Arts pathway at ACCA is specially crafted for students with a passion for cooking. This industry expert-run  program provides students with a solid foundation in culinary techniques, food safety, menu development, teamwork, and kitchen management in a state-of-the-art facility. Through a blend of hands-on experiences and theoretical knowledge, students will explore global flavors, pastry arts, and develop the skills and expertise required to thrive in various culinary settings. Whether you dream of becoming a chef, a food stylist, or simply want to hone your culinary skills, our program provides the perfect recipe for success. Join us and turn your culinary dreams into a reality! Students in this pathway earn their SafeServ Food Handler certification.

Students in this pathway have an opportunity to learn how to operate a cafĂ© or restaurant. The culinary students run the Buzz Cafe and the Yellow Jacket Bistro.  The Buzz cafe serves students and staff, while the Yellow Jacket Bistro is open to the public for special events and catering.

The Athens Community Career Academy is excited to invite the Athens community to experience the Yellow Jacket Bistro.  The student-run enterprise features cuisine made by ACCA culinary students, under the guidance of Chef Amee Williams. Let us know how we can serve your group.

Introduction to Culinary Arts
In this course, fundamental culinary techniques, skills, and terminology will be introduced and mastered through the development and implementation of simulations and real-world experiences. Students will implement the philosophy and skills of Farm Table in developing menus and preparing food.

Culinary I
This course is designed to provide additional experiences and skills through the use of the Farm to Table program. Students will apply and refine their knowledge of culinary techniques, skills, and terminology through further menu development and food preparation. Food production skills including portion control, nutritional content and real-world application are developed.

Culinary II
Culinary Arts II is an advanced and rigorous in-depth course designed for the student who is continuing in the Culinary Arts Pathway and wishes to continue their education at the postsecondary level or enter the food-service industry as a proficient and well-rounded individual. Strong importance is given to refining hands-on production of the classic fundamentals in the commercial kitchen.
