Clarke County School District Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Scott has announced three upcoming “Progress and Plans” sessions, scheduled for the final week of August, in which she will detail progress made and plans for the district’s work in raising the bar in pursuit of excellence.

The presentation will be identical at each session and will be given on the following schedule:

• 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 25 - Heard Park, McKinley Gym, 400 McKinley Dr., Athens

• 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 27 - Athens-Clarke County Library Community Room, 2025 Baxter St., Athens

• 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, August 31 - Rhema Christian Fellowship, 1850 Danielsville Road, Athens.

An educator with CCSD since 1998, with roles in classroom teaching and later school and district leadership, Dr. Scott served as the district’s Interim Superintendent during the 2025-26 school year and was appointed Superintendent by the Clarke County Board of Education in June. After her contract with the board officially took effect July 1, she released an overview of her 90-day entry plan, which has three primary focus areas:

• Ensuring stability and continuity in instructional focus, student safety, and operational excellence

• Partnering with the Board of Education to strengthen governance and transparency

• Engaging students, families, staff, and community partners to ensure the district’s work is supporting the three anchoring goals of its five-year strategic plan: Thriving Students, Optimized Talent, and Connected Culture.
