School Uniform Requirements

Uniform Requirements

  • Shirts: Shirts must be either polo or button-front and cover the midriff. All shirts must be solid white, gold, yellow, navy blue, royal blue, or baby blue (No teal green, stripes, plaids, patterns, sleeveless, or sheer shirts allowed). BHL spirit shirts may be worn any day of the week. All button-front shirts must be buttoned to cover the chest. Turtleneck and mock turtleneck shirts can be worn under collared shirts.

  • Skirts, Dresses, Pants, and Shorts: Khaki, navy, and black must be an appropriate length to not expose the buttocks. Denim bottoms of any kind are not approved uniform dress attire.

  • Pants must be worn at the waist. No oversized pants or shorts that may fall below the waist and expose undergarments should be worn. Jeans, jeggings, or joggers are only to be worn on dress-down days.

  • Shoes: For safety purposes, students are not allowed to wear flip-flops, house slippers, bedroom shoes, or athletic slides. Sandals must have an ankle strap.

  • Headgear: Students are not allowed to wear bandanas, skullcaps, sweatbands, hoods, caps, or hats.

  • Jackets:  Light jackets or sweaters can be worn in the classroom over the collared shirt. They must be solid white, blue, royal blue, navy blue, gold, black, or gray (no denim, stripes, plaids, or patterns) in color with minimal writing.

Dress Down Dress Code Guidelines

  • Shirts/Tops: Tank tops, muscle shirts, spaghetti straps, backless dresses, tube tops, halter tops, see-through garments, or low-cut shirts showing the breast, midriffs, or stomachs should not be worn.

  • Shorts/skirts must be worn at an appropriate length to not expose the buttocks.

  • Pants must be worn at the waist. Students are not allowed to wear bulky, oversized, sagging jeans or pants that expose undergarments.  Jeans should not have large holes above the knees or holes that inappropriately expose the body.  Joggers, sweatpants, and jeggings are allowed.  Opaque yoga pants, spandex pants, biker shorts, or leggings may be worn under skirts or dresses.

  • Bulky, heavy, or long coats must be removed and stored in lockers. Flip-flops, slides, or house slippers are not acceptable footwear.

  • Headgear: Students are not allowed to wear bandanas, skullcaps, hoods, caps, or hats inside the building.

  • Exceptions: The school principal can approve exceptions to the dress code policy for religious or health reasons.
