As we prepare to start a new school year this week, families of CCSD bus riders may notice some changes in our bus stop procedures following a new state law that took effect July 1 and introduces new safety regulations for student transportation.
Under "Addy's Law," students are prohibited from crossing a roadway to board or unload from a school bus on streets with a posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour or higher. This measure is designed to enhance the safety of our students by minimizing the risk of accidents during bus boarding and unloading.
To accommodate these changes, CCSD drivers may need to adjust their routes to comply with the law, which could include passing by the original stop and turning around to safely release students on the correct side of the street.
We understand that this adjustment may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we implement these changes. The safety of your children is our top priority, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition while adhering to the new regulations.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our students safe. As a reminder, you can get updates on your student's bus route through the Edulog app.
