Clarke County School District students in the Class of 2024 outperformed their state and national public-school counterparts on the SAT on average, according to data released Wednesday, Sept. 25, by the Georgia Department of Education.
The public release of the scores covers students from the most recent graduating class who took the SAT during high school. Test-takers are counted only once, and only their latest scores are factored into the data.
Out of 281 test-takers, CCSD Class of 2024 students had an average score of 1056 — 543 on the Evidence-based Reading and Writing (ERW) portion and 513 on Math. This was up from an average score of 1029 for the Class of 2023 (531 on ERW, 498 on Math).
Clarke Central High School Class of 2024 students averaged a 1066 on the SAT (554 on ERW, 512 on Math), up 20 points from last year’s 1046 mark (544 on ERW and 502 on Math). Meanwhile, Cedar Shoals High School had a 45-point overall jump from 999 to 1044, increasing 26 points on Math (from 492 to 518) and 19 on ERW (from 507 to 526).
Georgia’s public-school Class of 2024 had a mean score of 1030 (527 on ERW and 503 on Math), surpassing the national mark of 995 (507 on ERW, 488 on Math).
“I’m extremely proud of the academic progress our students are making across the district at all levels,” said Dr. Robbie Hooker, CCSD Superintendent. “These scores are just further evidence of that progress.”
