The Clarke County School District’s Department of Public Relations and Communications received 10 awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) in its annual Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards announced earlier this month.
NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards recognize outstanding tactical materials such as publications, newsletters, videos, podcasts, websites, social media, and other forms of school communications. Each year, more than 100 experienced communication professionals from around the country volunteer to serve as judges in NSPRA’s awards contests using a set of established criteria based on industry best practices.
This year’s contests included content created from March 2024 through March 2025. CCSD’s PR and Communications Department’s awards included:
Five Awards of Excellence – for production of the district’s printed wall calendar featuring examples of student art; writing for its story about the district’s partnership with Prevent Blindness Georgia to provide free full vision exams to referred students and its press release on the 2024-25 CCSD Teacher and Support Professional of the Year; its collaboration with outside contractor CV House on production of a video highlighting the winners of CCSD’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Student Art and Writing Contest; and photography
Two Awards of Merit – for photography and production of its “What to Know about CCSD” special purpose publication
Three Honorable Mention nods – for production of the digital Back to School Guide for 2024-25, the district’s weekly “Better Together” digital newsletter, and photography.
The Department of Public Relations and Communications is responsible for communicating CCSD’s goals, objectives, priorities, and district news to its various stakeholders through the dissemination of information in print, digital, and audio-visual forms, media relations, and events. The department assists with crisis management/communication and provides marketing and stakeholder engagement support to individual schools and departments, language translation and interpretation services to students and families, and manages open records requests.
Since 2023, the department has won more than three dozen awards and recognitions from NSPRA and the Georgia School Public Relations Association (GSPRA) for its work in highlighting district events and initiatives, celebrating student and staff awards and achievements, and telling the story of CCSD.
