The Clarke County Board of Education will hold its annual fall retreat meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in Room 123 of the Clarke County School District administrative offices building, 595 Prince Ave., Athens. Because a quorum of board members is expected to attend, the meeting is open to the public under Georgia’s Open Meetings Act; however, there will not be a public participation period during the meeting.
At its retreat, the board will:
- receive an overview of the fiscal year 2027 budget process and have preliminary discussions on board member budget priorities 
- discuss a mid-cycle review by Cognia, which monitors the board for school system reaccreditation. 
- review and discuss board governance norms, roles, and responsibilities 
- receive a presentation on and discuss district facilities 
- review and discuss board policies.
