Patricia Yager Board of Education memberDuring its meeting on Thursday, September 10, the Clarke County Board of Education elected Dr. Patricia Yager as its new Vice President. The post had been vacant since June, when the previous Vice President, Mark Evans, was elected Board President.

Dr. Yager has served on the Board of Education since 2019, when she was appointed to the District 4 seat, and is currently in her second full four-year term, having been elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024. She also previously served on the Cedar Shoals High School local school governance team (LSGT).

Dr. Yager is a professor of marine science at the University of Georgia, where she has worked since moving to Athens in 1998. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and her master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Washington.
