Yesterday, Mr. Hazinski visited our Audio and Visual Technology pathway to give students an exciting behind-the-scenes look at how news broadcasting works! Mr. Hazinski, a professor Emeritus at the University of Georgia and CEO of Intelligent Media Consultants (IMC), shared valuable insights about journalism and broadcasting in our fast- paced digital era.
He was promoting WBL internship opportunities at Education Matters. We’re so grateful to our amazing Athens community for generously sharing their time and expertise to create such a unique and inspiring learning experience for our students! 🌟

Today, we at the Athens Community Career Academy are shining a spotlight on our Advanced Manufacturing and Welding pathway. In this program, students collaborate to create a wide range of products using materials like wood, metal, and 3D printing. Led by Mr. Woodson—this year's Career Academy Teacher of the Year—students not only unleash their creativity but also master crucial safety protocols. Thanks to this hands-on experience, many graduates have secured jobs in this fast-growing industry. After all, the world wouldn’t function without manufacturing!

Yesterday Love Craft clients came to ACCA for a Spa Day. The advanced cosmetology students styled hair and did makeup. The staff and clients at Love Craft enjoyed the experience and sent this little note of appreciation:
" I just wanted to say THANK YOU for letting us come hang with y'all yesterday! Your students were so wonderful, and our girls left feeling beautiful. Kari was showing me her green nails the whole way home. Melanie was raving about her hair because she'd "never been to the salon before!"
Opportunities like these help our Crew feel involved and integrated into their community. Thank you for supporting our mission and making this possible!"

We enjoyed hosting this group and look forward to serving them in the future.

Kudos to Chef Kenny Nguyen of Top Chef fame and Pretty Boys Restaurant here in Athens. Kenny spent the afternoon coaching aspiring chefs here at ACCA. Thank you Chef Nguyen for the gift of your time and for sharing your talents!

Career Academy offers many different pathways. These pathways align with student’s career goals and our community needs. One of these pathway is cosmetology. In this class students learn about how to use cosmetics, style and cut hair and do nail care and styling. We have a cosmetology lab in Career Academy equipped with everything a stylist would need. Ms. Hunt, our cosmetology teacher, wants her students to learn the proper way to use machines and techniques by experiencing it. Students are captivated in their work and enjoy what they do. Cosmetology is a growing industry and they will be needing trained professionals , are you in? # employability skills,# hands on learning,

The awesome learning and hands-on career focus learning happens in both our pathway and core content classes here at ACCA. Dr. Elder and Ms. Tillman’s Economics students put on a pop-up market to sell their wares. Students learned about the different types of business structures and learned valuable transferable skills of presentation, communication, and collaboration. #cross-curricular instruction, # hands-on learning #career and college readiness #employability skills #ctae

Last week in Culinary Arts, our students had the amazing opportunity to consult with two culinary rockstars—Kenny Nguyen, one of *America's Top Chefs*, and Noah Brendell, co-owner of Sea Bear and Pretty Boy. They shared their insights on the students’ planned menus for the upcoming YJ Bistro, set to open to the public later this year!
These local chefs are also excited to offer more feedback during a special "tasting day" later this month. We're so grateful for Kenny and Noah's generosity in sharing their time and expertise with our Culinary Arts students. Big thanks to them for supporting the #athenscommunity, #athenslove, and #gratitude!

Despite the tragedies of last week, the commitment to quality education and student engagement remained strong. Students in Ms. Tillman and Dr. Edler’s Economics class organized a Business Expo to present their innovative business ideas. They researched start-up costs, explained marketing strategies, and prepared detailed business plans to showcase to the ACCA staff and students.
The creativity and professionalism displayed were impressive. From lawnmowing businesses to pet crochet kits, students came well-prepared with various props to engage their audience. This project provided valuable insights into entrepreneurship, different business structures, and the expenses involved in running a business. Students honed their marketing and presentation skills by presenting their ideas to their peers and ACCA faculty and staff.
Congratulations to all the students, and kudos to Dr. Edler and Ms. Tillman for their outstanding work

Students! Don't forget tomorrow at ACCA is professional headshot day.
Please come in a dark-colored collared shirt and do your hair.
See you tomorrow!

Workforce Wednesday has officially kicked off at Athens Community Career Academy, and we couldn’t be more excited! On Workforce Wednesdays, all students dress according to the attire required in their chosen pathway. This initiative gives students a real taste of what working in their field will look and feel like.
Each pathway has its own specific dress code, so students can experience firsthand the professional environment they’ll be entering. Looking ahead, future Workforce Wednesdays will feature additional learning opportunities, such as interview workshops and potential internships with partner companies, for these days students will wear business casual!
Check out some of our students rocking their pathway attire on this year’s inaugural Workforce Wednesday!
Remember, tomorrow is WORKFORCE WEDNESDAY—don’t miss it!
