Proudly sharing from CCSD:
Celebrating CCSD's Support Professional of the Year (with video!)
As an Athens native and CCSD graduate, Brian Smith sees himself in many of the students he works with and uses his perspective to improve the overall student experience in our district. As a behavior interventionist at Barnett Shoals Elementary School, Mr. Smith is known as a positive, uplifting role model who makes everyone smile and works tirelessly to foster a safe learning environment for all students and staff. He builds strong relationships with students and provides them with the support they need to make good choices and become future leaders in the community. CCSD is proud to present this celebration video of our 2025-26 Support Professional of the Year.

Barnett Shoals received a significant honor yesterday, being recognized as a 2025 Title I Reward School by the Georgia Department of Education!

From the CCSD announcement (https://www.clarke.k12.ga.us/article/2442151):
"Barnett Shoals and Cleveland Road elementary schools in the Clarke County School District have been named 2025 Title I Reward Schools by the Georgia Department of Education – a designation that recognizes the Title I schools statewide that are making the most significant strides in overall student achievement.

Barnett Shoals has seen double-digit increases in ELA (+10) and math (+12) in Content Mastery scores since 2023.

'To be included on this list is a remarkable achievement that highlights the effective teaching, learning, and leadership happening in our schools,' said Dr. Donna Elder, CCSD Interim Deputy Superintendent of Academics and Student Supports. 'Barnett Shoals and Cleveland Road are shining examples of how the Clarke County School District demonstrates excellence in education.' "

It's time once again to nominate a CCSD Employee of the Month! The Employee of the Month program recognizes and rewards staff members for their service and dedication to the students and families of the Clarke County School District. Each month (September through May), a CCSD employee is chosen for the award, surprised at their school or building, and invited to the monthly Board of Education meeting for recognition. Any member of the CCSD community (student, parent/guardian, staff member, community member) may nominate any full-time district employee with at least one full year of service. Nominations for September Employee of the Month are now open! Go to bit.ly/CCEmployeeAward to get started!
