The ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from approximately 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Hilsman Gymnasium. Please note that the ceremony is invitation-only. Be sure to look for an invitation that will be sent home with your child.

Dear 8th Grade Families,
We are excited for our 8th Grade Picnic at Sandy Creek on Friday, May 1st from 9:30 AM–2:30 PM and would love for parents to be a part of this special event!
We are looking for parents who would like to:
🌞 Attend and help chaperone at the picnic
💧 Donate bottled waters and juice boxes for students (110 students)
🙋 Volunteer to help support the event
If you are interested in attending, donating, or volunteering, please email me to let me know how you would like to participate. ( billingsa@clarke.k12.ga.us)
Please also note: Students may attend the picnic only if they have paid their 8th grade dues and submitted their permission slip.

This is a friendly reminder that RSVPs for Spring Fling: Lunch on the Lawn close tomorrow. If you have not submitted your student’s RSVP by the deadline, your student will not be able to attend the event.

Dear Families,
We are excited to wrap up the year with our final Lunch on the Lawn! Students will have the opportunity to enjoy lunch outside with music, games, and time with friends.

Hilsman Band Achieves Top Honors at State Evaluation
Our Hilsman 7th and 8th-grade band students recently demonstrated why the Panther Band program is one of the best around! Our students traveled to Clarke Central High School to participate in the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) Large Group Performance Evaluation.
This evaluation serves as a comprehensive "snapshot" of a band’s progress, grading them on technical skill, musicality, and their ability to learn on the fly. We are incredibly proud to share that our students received Straight Superior ratings—the highest possible score—for both their prepared stage performance and their sight-reading evaluation.
The Sight-Reading Challenge Sight-reading is one of the most rigorous tests for a young musician. Students enter a room with a piece of music they have never seen before. They have exactly six minutes to analyze the score, discuss the rhythms and notes, and ask questions. They are not allowed to play a single note until the timer stops and the performance begins. Our Panthers used their prior knowledge and incredible teamwork to ace this challenge, proving that they aren't just playing notes—they are becoming true masters of their craft.

Good afternoon Panther Families,
As Parent-Teacher Conferences approach, our teachers and staff will be staying late to meet with families and support our students. To show our appreciation, we are planning a Fiesta Night dinner for them during conference evening.
We are asking for parent support through donations of food items, drinks, or desserts to help make this dinner possible. Contributions such as taco bar items, chips, dips, drinks, and sweet treats would be greatly appreciated.
