GaTAPP Loan

Need a loan to cover the cost of the GaTAPP Program?  Great News! CCSD and Peach State Credit Union are joining together to provide eligible candidates the CCSD GaTAPP Loan! This is a low-interest loan that could be used as a payroll deduction.  Please contact Peach State for more information.

Who is eligible for the GaTAPP Program?

  • Must want to serve and be part of the most respected profession--EDUCATOR, and

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a field other than education

  • Eligible to apply for a teaching position and has accepted the position 

NCLB Requirements

All currently employed Paraprofessionals who are not "Highly Qualified" will be required to meet the "No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) requirements and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Rule 505-2-11 by June 30, 2009.

PSC Rule 505-2-11

To be eligible to hold a Paraprofessional Certificate in the State of Georgia, you must have an Associate's Degree, or two years of study at a 4-year college (60 semester hours), or 100 quarter hours at a technical college, or pass the PSC-approved paraprofessional assessment. All Paraprofessionals hired after September 1, 2006, must meet these requirements before being employed. GACE Schedule and Registration Information

As of September 1, 2006, there was a change in the paraprofessional assessment test. The test is now administered through GACE (Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators), and you will be required to register online to take the assessment test. The cost for the test will be $35 plus a $20 registration fee.
