Families and community members: Help us get the school year off to a successful start tomorrow by driving ALERT on the roads!
•Watch for students and families in crosswalks, and slow down to avoid costly fines.
•Do NOT pass a bus with its stop arm extended.
•Be patient as there will be more traffic back on the roads in the morning and afternoon.
•Plan ahead. To be early is to be on time!

Congratulations to the Clarke Middle SEAT team for attending the 44th Annual NEED Youth Energy Conference and Awards and earning two additional awards this summer!
These Clarke Middle students spent much of their 2023-24 school year engaged in learning and teaching about science and the environment as part of Audrey Hughes and Javan Winston’s classrooms and extracurricular programs. The Clarke Middle Science, Energy, & Adventure Team’s project, "Action and Advocacy for Energy Education and Sustainability", was reviewed by The NEED Project’s National Review Panel and selected for top awards as the Georgia School of the Year and National Junior Level School of the Year! While at the NEED Project Youth Energy Conference this summer, the team won an additional 2 awards: Best Presentation and Most Energy Efficient Design for their conference challenge work. Congratulations to these extraordinary students and their teachers for their incredible success!

As we prepare for the start of the 2024-25 school year, be sure your students are safe during this hot weather!

More good testing news as CCSD high school students performed strongly on the spring 2024 Advanced Placement (AP) exams with higher pass rates than 2023 and continued a positive trend over recent years! Read more here: bit.ly/3yrpqAM
CCSD families,
You may see these "No Phone Zone" signs this upcoming school year at your student's school. These are updated guidelines for the 2024-25 school year to improve student engagement, decrease distractions, and overall, improve the educational experience in our classrooms. As the 2024-25 school year is about to begin, CCSD middle school students will be asked to leave phones in their lockers during instructional time, while high school students will be asked to either keep their phones in their backpacks, or place them in pouches inside their classrooms.

As we prepare to start a new school year this week, families of CCSD bus riders may notice some changes in our bus stop procedures following a new state law that took effect July 1 and introduces new safety regulations for student transportation. Read more at bit.ly/3WFN2eq
WORKING TOGETHER: Preparation is key, and CCSD nurses took that message to the district bus garage today where they trained bus drivers and monitors on how to respond if a medical emergency occurs on a bus. We hope they don't encounter any on their buses this year, but if they do, they will be prepared to act. Great job by these dedicated employees of demonstrating that, at CCSD, we are always Better Together!
