Workforce development in the Clarke County School District (CCSD) is focused on investing in our student's professional growth. We do this by:
- Developing, promoting, and delivering career-readiness events/initiatives for students aligned with our CTAE pathways, through our WBL program
- Building partnerships with businesses and the non-profit community to offer WBL internships and apprenticeships
- Ensuring CCSD school-based WBL programs align with the Georgia Department of Education's Work-Based Learning standards
We seek opportunities for students to enrich their educational experience by "learning while doing".

1. Learn about WBL/WFD
The mission of the workforce development program is to provide opportunities for students to expand & apply their learning to workforce needs in the community. There are opportunities for the business and non-profit community to get involved in supporting our students while building a pipeline to meet their workforce needs.

- Being a guest speaker for a CTAE class
- Providing a job shadowing opportunity
- Hosting a business/industry field trip
- Participating in mock interview sessions
- Providing an internship/apprenticeship opportunity
- Participating in career fairs
- Becoming an ACCA sponsor with a tax-deductible donation to the Athens Area Community Foundation
- Becoming a member of a CTAE advisory committee to offer input on career pathways and their curriculum.

For Families
Why should my student(s) do work-based learning?
Work-based learning students have the opportunity to get on-the-job training in internships working alongside professors, engineers, healthcare professionals, educators, and more! WBL is a great way for students to gain employability skills, learn more about a career, and network while earning elective credit.
How does WBL work?
Students may review internships and job opportunities and apply to WBL. Once they have a placement and are in the program internships, they work at least 7 hours per week to earn 1 academic elective credit. Students will likely be working off-campus during the school day. Transportation is not provided, students must be able to get to and from their worksite on their own. Parents of students participating in WBL must participate in an orientation.
