Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA)

The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) is performed periodically every six months and reports are sent to the State every three years by School Safety and Environmental Services of the Georgia Department of Education as required by law. The results have been reviewed, and written recommendations for updated response actions have been prepared. The re-inspection and written recommendations were performed by accredited persons as required by AHERA.

The completed re-inspection forms have been placed in each of the individual schools Asbestos Management Plan. The management plan for asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM) required by the Federal Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) has been performed for these facilities. The management plan is on file at each school office and is available for public inspection upon reasonable notice. If desired, a copy of the plan may be obtained upon payment of a reasonable reproduction cost.
