2023-24 Pre-K and Kindergarten Early Registration
Early Registration Period (Monday through Saturday, Feb. 20-25, 2023):
- Registration will be held in the gymnasium on the District Office campus, 595 Prince Ave., Athens
- Feb. 20-24: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Feb. 25: 8 a.m. to noon
Early registration is a two-step process:- First, prior to coming to in-person registration, families should complete the Online Application, available in English or Spanish. Click here to access the Online Application. The application should take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
- Second, bring your confirmation email with your application number, confirming that you have completed the online application, and the following documents to in-person registration:
- certified copy of the student's birth certificate or their passport
- the student's Social Security card
- the student's current immunization record (Georgia Form 3231)
- picture ID of the student's parent or legal guardian (Guardians must provide proof of guardianship)
- proof of residence, including any two of the following: mortgage statement/rent statement or copy of lease; water, power, gas, cable, internet, trash, or pest control bill with name and address.
- For additional information about these required documents, scroll below on this page under "Registration and Withdrawal," and click on the dropdown item labeled "To Register a Student (Pre-K through 12th Grade)."
- On-site registration assistance and translation and interpretation services will be provided.
- All pre-K applications processed between Feb. 20-25 will be added to the district's pre-K lottery.
- Students who are registered after Feb. 25 will be assigned based on available seating.
- Students are assigned to schools according to the residential attendance zone of the student's legal parent or guardian.
- Students must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2023, to be eligible for pre-K.For additional information on pre-K registration, contact Monica Drayton, Pre-K Program Registrar, at 706-357-5315, Ext. 20258 or draytonm@clarke.k12.ga.us.

Registration and Withdrawal

To Register a Student (Pre-K through 12th Grade)
Your child's registration will be processed when you have completed both steps below.
- Complete the Registration Application. If you need help with the application, you are welcome to complete it in person. However, parents are strongly encouraged to complete the application before coming to the office if possible.
- Once the application has been submitted, bring your application number and the following documents to the Student Registration Center.
- The child's birth certificate. If you don't have a copy, you can order a replacement from the Clarke County Health Department or online through the Georgia Department of Public Health.
- The child's social security card. If you object to the incorporation of the social security number into the child's school records, you can waive the requirement.
- The child's immunization record on Georgia Form 3231. If you don't have a copy, let me know and I may be able to look it up for you. If your child's immunization record is from a different state, you'll need to take it to the Clarke County Health Department to have it transferred to the Georgia immunization registry. There is a $10 charge at the Health Department to transfer immunization records.
- The parent/guardian's photo ID.
- Proof of residence.We'll need two documents, which can be two current utility bills (water, power, gas, pest control, cable, internet, trash), or one utility bill plus a current lease/rent statement/mortgage statement. If you've moved in the last 30 days and don't have a utility bill yet, we will accept just your new lease or closing document. If you live with someone else, the person who owns or rents from that property must be present during the registration process and provide residency documents and ID.
- Proof of guardianship. This is only required if the child is adopted, in foster care, or living with someone other than a birth parent.
- Complete the Registration Application. If you need help with the application, you are welcome to complete it in person. However, parents are strongly encouraged to complete the application before coming to the office if possible.

To Change a Student's Address or Update Contact Information
Please bring the following documents to the Student Registration Center.
- Your photo ID.
- Proof of residence for the new address. We'll need two documents, which can be two current utility bills (water, power, gas, pest control, cable, internet, trash), or one utility bill plus a current lease/rent statement/mortgage statement. If you've moved in the last 30 days and don't have a utility bill yet, we will accept just your new lease or closing document. If you live with someone else, the person who owns or rents from that property must be present during the registration process and provide residency documents and ID.

To Transfer Between CCSD Schools
Students in the Clarke County School District are assigned to schools based on address. If you have a new address that places your child in a different school zone, please come to the Student Registration Center with the following documents:
- Your photo ID.
- Proof of residence for the new address. We'll need two documents, which can be two current utility bills (water, power, gas, pest control, cable, internet, trash), or one utility bill plus a current lease/rent statement/mortgage statement. If you've moved in the last 30 days and don't have a utility bill yet, we will accept just your new lease or closing document. If you live with someone else, the person who owns or rents from that property must be present during the registration process and provide residency documents and ID.

To Withdraw a Student from School
Please contact your student's school directly to withdraw your student. You will need to include the following information in your email:
- Your student's name.
- Your photo ID.
- The name of the new school (or city/state) or reason for the withdrawal.
