The Clarke County School District’s Youth Development Initiative is intended to increase and expand access to opportunities for the youth of Athens-Clarke County to participate in positive, structured youth sports programming, which will benefit not only our youth but our entire community for years to come. 

The initiative will: 

• promote a stronger sense of mental, emotional, and physical wellness among the youth of our community. 
• include a focus on literacy and academic enrichment by providing an opportunity for participants to be on reading teams through their respective after-school programs. 
• provide a means by which all community stakeholders (CCSD, other local government agencies, private businesses, etc.) can provide support as an investment in the future of the community. 

The initiative has funding and support from the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government, the University of Georgia Athletic Association, and the University of Georgia Office of Service-Learning. Click on the links on the left-hand side of this page to learn more about the initiative!
