At its Thursday, Dec. 14 meeting, the Clarke County Board of Education approved a pair of administrative hires, promoting Tamika Henson from assistant principal to associate principal at Clarke Central High School and hiring James Price as an assistant principal at Cedar Shoals High School.

Ms. Henson will take over the associate principal position held by Dr. Cindi Lowe, who is retiring at the end of December, and join fellow associate principal Dr. Summer Smith. CCSD will conduct a search for an assistant principal to join assistant principal Everett Nealy.

He comes to CCSD from Kestrel Heights Charter School in Durham, North Carolina, where he has been assistant principal since July 2022. He was a science teacher at the school from August 2020 through June 2022 and was an educator in Atlanta Public Schools for three years prior to that. He also has previous experience as the registrar at the BeSix Knowledge Academy in Decatur, Georgia, and was a project manager at Community Build Ventures, where his focus was assisting other educators with professional development.

Mr. Price holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Morehouse College and a masters in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University.
